AED University Service Management Certification Requirements

The AED Service Management Certification program recognizes individuals who have contributed to their company through exemplary skills and expertise. These individuals have also completed a professional education program that emphasizes best practices in areas essential to managing a construction equipment dealership.

Professional Education Requirements
To meet the professional education requirements of the AED Service Management Certification, you will need a minimum of 48 hours of formal training (4.8 CEUs) within the past five years. The cost of training is additional. Click here for a cost summary via AEDU.

Required training includes the following:

1.6 CEUs (16 hours) of formal Service Management training.

Choose from these AED University Self-Study Courses: Or from seminars Training via dealer, manufacturer, public or private educational institution is also acceptable, however, this training must meet learning objectives addressed by one or more of the following topic areas: leadership, diversity, motivation, goal setting, delegating, coaching, performance review skills, interviewing, recruitment and retention, time management, stress management and understanding employment laws, and other topics upon approval.

1.2 CEUs (12 hours) of formal People Management training.

Choose from these AED University Self-Study Courses: Or from seminars Training via dealer, manufacturer, public or private educational institution is also acceptable, however, this training must meet learning objectives addressed by one or more of the following topic areas: leadership, diversity, motivation, goal setting, delegating, coaching, performance review skills, interviewing, recruitment and retention, time management, stress management and understanding employment laws, and other topics upon approval.

1.2 CEUs (12 hours) of formal Customer/Sales Management training.

Choose from these AED University Self-Study Courses: Or from seminars Training via dealer, manufacturer, public or private educational institution is also acceptable, however, this training must meet learning objectives addressed by one or more of the following topic areas: leadership, diversity, motivation, goal setting, delegating, coaching, performance review skills, interviewing, recruitment and retention, time management, stress management and understanding employment laws, and other topics upon approval.

0.8 CEUs (8 hours) of formal Financial Management training.

Choose from these AED University Self-Study Courses: Or from seminars Training via dealer, manufacturer, public or private educational institution is also acceptable, however, this training must meet learning objectives addressed by one or more of the following topic areas: leadership, diversity, motivation, goal setting, delegating, coaching, performance review skills, interviewing, recruitment and retention, time management, stress management and understanding employment laws, and other topics upon approval.

Other Acceptable Training:

Training provided by Dealer or Manufacturer:
Formal training offered by a dealer or manufacturer is encouraged. The AED Foundation is continuing to work with dealers and manufacturers to approve courses and will make the list available. In the mean time, in order for a training session to be considered, the following information must be completed in the application: Name of the instructor or provider, contact information for the provider, program name, outline/agenda (time spent on each topic), dates of attendance and a summary of what you learned. The participant should also submit the program certificate, assessment and or/evaluation if available. If this information is not available, your employer will be asked to verify your training history.

Training provided by public or private institution:
Formal training provided by a technical, public, or private university, college or recognized institution is also acceptable. In order for a course to be considered, the following information must accompany the application: The institution and program must be verifiable by internet or course catalog, contact information must include the institution?s address and phone. Also, include the name of the instructor, course outline/agenda, date(s) of attendance, final grade and summary of what you learned in this course. You must also submit a copy of certificate or transcript confirming successful completion of this training.

AED University Managers Conference:
Each year Parts and Service Managers are offered the opportunity to earn additional CEUs in Parts, Service, People, Customer, and Financial Management at this event. The number of CEUs is determined by the length of the session as well as the pre- or post-work involved. Attendance is taken at each session. The participant must also take the post-test associated with each session or program to earn CEUs. Click CLICK HERE for more information on the 2010 event.
